As Sarawak battles a hazardous air pollution crisis and school closures, a bitter irony hangs heavy in the air: while Indonesian open-burning practices drive the regional haze, many of the back-alley agricultural operations are propelled by Malaysian capital and corporations. Driven by a systemic *tidak apa* (never mind) and *whateverlah* attitude, we decry the smoke while exporting the very corporate recklessness that fuels it, exposing a deep hypocritical streak in our regional civic discipline.
