This is the first post to welcome all you readers to Whateverlah!
This blog will address issues that are facing our country and the world in general. Whateverlah! is a very common expression used in Malaysia, the American version is “Whatever!”. The “lah” suffix is a Malaysian thing.
The expression conveys a whole range of meanings depending on when it is used, the intonation, the topic of conversation and must be taken in context with all of those variables and then some.
It is also an expression of entitlement and general apathy. In general the attitude of the people in this country. We hope to foster a change in this attitude through civilised discourse. It is a tall order that we hope to fulfil.
